Why join the Anniston Runners Club?

It’s a GOOD deal!

Members pay $15.00 for an individual membership, or $20 for a family membership. Memberships are on a calendar year basis. New members pay for an annual membership and are renewed at a prorated quarterly amount on the following year.

About one third of that goes to our membership in Road Runners Club of America which is our governing body. The cost of RRCA is determined by the number of people we have in the club. Currently we have over 630 members. RRCA provides our insurance for all the races and other events we hold. (We host Half Naked Marathon (13.1 miles) in January, the Mount Cheaha 50K ultra trail run (31 miles) in February, Woodstock 5K in August (It is RRCA National 5K Championship in 2012), the Pinhoti 100 Miler and the Plucked Turkey 10K in November. Plus we support the 14 races on the Grand Prix series. We are very busy!!!

Also, only members are eligible to participate and gain points in the Grand Prix racing series. This is a HUGE deal and probably one of the major reasons our club has grown so much the last three and a half years. It’s fun and you get a great reward if you place in your age group. Look at the website for more details about the Grand Prix. You get discounts on most local race fees. Most races cost between $12-$15 to run, but if you are an ARC member, you get a $2 discount. It adds up- the average member will save over $25 in race fees alone!

Our club tries to support all levels and types of runners. We hold quarterly educational workshops, weekly training runs (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday), and we have divisions to appeal to whatever your interest area may be: Youth Running Division, Triathlon Division, Ultra-Race Division, and the Women’s Running Division.

Another perk is that all members receive a membership card with discounts from local businesses on the back. (i.e. Mellow Mushroom, Wafffle House, McClellan Park Medical Mall, Wig’s Wheels, Peerless Grill, Chick Fil A etc…) You make back your money fast if you eat at Mellow Mushroom twice!

And you get invited to all the club socials and special events that include pub runs (run then eat pizza), breakfast runs (run then eat breakfast together), … you get the idea. We hold a fantastic end-of-year banquet in January at the Anniston Country Club to recognize the Grand Prix winners, 1200 Mile Club achievers and some other neat awards.

Our new website is more current and relevant than ever- updates and results are placed there daily. Plus, you get to wear cool Anniston Runners attire check it out on the website- click here! And you have access to our weekly emails highlighting events and runners – this is an invaluable tool for our club. It keeps us all connected.

The best thing is that you get to be a part of a growing movement of runners who want to promote the healthy benefits of running, and our club donates to the following charitable organizations: Local high school track team grants, Relay for Life, Anniston YMCA, Cheaha State Park Children’s Playground, Children Special Olympics and the local CP Center. This makes us good community citizens. We have been invited to speak at multiple service organizations in the last year because they have heard about our growth and want to know how to duplicate it in their organization.

We want you to be heathy- come run with us!

Call or email me if you have any questions. Thanks for your interest.
